Write an essay with a critical argument about the Captain Marvel movie. My idea is to form an argument about how the movie portrays feminism but shows that you can only really be accepted if you are a superhero with powers. by that, I meant that the lead character is confident, talks back and does her own thing and is changed by men in the movie. It shows toxic mascinlyty in the air force she is shown as this strong woman who overcomes this and is taken seriously, but only because she has superpowers. This is “fake” feminism because it is an impossible thing to accomplish women can never gain superpowers and so will never be able to match this woman. I’d like you to look into the film industry for similar examples of female leads with unattainable capabilities that seem to portray feminism but do so in a way that says to the world, ” You can be a successful and accepted, and all that which feminism asks, but only if you are exceptional” (like have superpowers and the like if that makes sense). Please contact me for clarification if you need to.
