This performance is about learning to create performance with ensemble, blending personal story with myth and other source texts such as poetry, and breaking out of tranditional narrative structure. This requires collaboration, listening, play and responsibility. You are responsible for doing your part, and showing up for your partner in a way that is compassionate and respecful.
It is so much fun to co create! Others bring out in us what we could not do alone. Create a safe container between the two of your to be playful, goofy, explorative, vulnearable and take risks.
Assignment:
With your Ensemble create a 15 min performance that includes the following:
1. Choose 1-3 Themes to base the performance off of:
these are the three themes:
Relationships
Your Choice of topic
2. A story about 1 of these Themes from each of you. You don’t have to share the entire story in the performance. Just a esction of some of them. But you should all come up with a story to share during the creation process.
3. A text written from someone else/ source text based on 1 of these themes which is relationships
4. A Myth that investigates one of the themes you chose which is relationships
In the performance include:
5. 3 gestures you repeat in the performance which are going to be tapping on the chest, heart, and waving goodbye
6. Weave your voices in one another stories
7. 3 lines of the performance should be said together
8. Have a clear begining, middle, end. An Opening, A rising, A Cresendo, A Fall and Closing. This does not need to be chronological. Get creative!
9. Costumes, lighting, sound and other set elements are encouraged. Get creative!
10. Music (live or recorded) is welcome. PLEASE rehearse all technical facets of the performance.
